Drew Barrymore says he is looking forward to allowing fans to see “real” Drew when her daytime talk show launches next week.
“I am not a person. I don’t just have a mood, ”she says during a call via Zoom. “I am also a mixture of myself. I want a show that shows all these different faces.”
Called “The Drew Barrymore Show”, the program will mix interviews with news, comedy, food and advice.
A segment called “Drew’s News” could separate you from other types of talk shows.
“It’s a chance to look at the world through a different lens, a positive lens, an optimistic lens that makes you feel good,” says executive producer Jason Kurtz. “It’s a chance for the audience to connect directly with Drew.”
Filmed without an audience in the studio (viewers will be attracted to computer screens), the show “will mix many different genres, tones and spices,” says Barrymore.
Drew performed “Saturday Night Live” six times, she loved it when there were mistakes.
Her friend Jimmy Fallon (whose wife is Barrymore’s production partner) taught her a lot about making work look easy.
“Jimmy is someone who wants to make the most of his opportunities and his tirelessness, his authenticity,” she says. “He is kind to everyone when no one is looking. He is true to himself and is not afraid to mix things up and become the man of the Renaissance.
Her debut was in “E.T., Extra-Terrestre”, now 45 years old, mother of two, says that she brings parts of all the characters she played to other parts of her life.
