Sony announces PS5 price and release date: starts at $ 399 and launches on November 12

Sony announced on Wednesday that the PlayStation 5 will start at $ 399.99 and go on sale on November 12 in the U.S. The Sony PS5 will compete directly with Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S game consoles.

The PS5 Digital Edition, which has no disk drive, will cost $ 399.99. The “normal” version of the console will cost $ 499.99.

Sony’s system comes with an eight-core AMD Zen 2 processor – like that of Microsoft’s Xbox – but it will have a better video card than the one used by its rival Microsoft.

Sony is using a strategy similar to that of Microsoft. It will launch a regular PS5 with a disc drive and a PS5 Digital Edition that can only download and stream games.

Sony said the PS5 will be launched in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12 and “in the rest of the world” on November 19. Sony said that “the launch date for China is still under scrutiny and will be announced at a later date.”
