Premier League player arrested on rape charges and charged with two more charges

The player’s name has not been revealed for legal reasons and his club has yet to comment on the incident.

A Premier League player was arrested on suspicion of rape on Monday in north London and then charged with two more rape charges. The football player was being questioned by police after being arrested at his home in Barnet for an alleged attack on a woman that allegedly took place last month.

Now, police have reported that the player has been arrested again on suspicion of two rape incidents in 2021 against a different woman before being released for a date next month. The player’s name has not been revealed for legal reasons and his club has yet to comment on the incident.

The player, who is in his 20s, is due to compete in the World Cup in Qatar in November. The alleged victims are also in their 20s. The player was arrested in a raid at 3am before being interrogated for at least 15 hours, according to The Sun.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police read: “On July 4, an allegation of rape of a 20-year-old woman was reported to police. The alleged rape was reported to have taken place in June 2022.”

The officers added: “Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.”

“While in custody, he was arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June 2021 against a female other than 20 years old. He was later released on bail until a date in August. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing,” he added.

Notably, the player’s national team is also reported to have qualified for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and he was set to appear on the lineup. Furthermore, with the new Premier League season set to start on August 5, it remains to be seen whether the player will be involved in his club’s matches.

It is unclear whether the internationally renowned star will now play in his club’s pre-season schedule.
