The North Face Gucci collab goes back to the 70s in their new collaboration
The long-awaited The North Face Gucci partnership was finally revealed, after it was first announced in September. Filmed and directed by Tom Shea, a film shows a group of friends dressed in Gucci in an alpine summer landscape, their bright skirts inspired by the 70s, overalls, jackets and much more in relief against the rugged mountains, while the official campaign inspires in the climates of the photos that groups of friends took in the 70s.
It’s not just about ready-to-wear. To show that they are serious when it comes to venturing into nature, there are sturdy leather hiking boots with Goodyear solder soles and hiking backpacks made with ECONYL, a nylon fabric from recycled materials like fishing nets and carpets.
The North Face and Gucci collection features new patterns and logos alongside styles inspired by the 70s.
Other products that exemplify the collaboration include a sleeping bag and a The North Face x Gucci tent, covered by a retro mash-up logo.
The North Face, a Denver, Colorado based brand, specialized in Outwear. Now is expanding its reach from outdoor explorers to the mainstream fashion medium through partnerships with brands like Supreme, Junya Watanabe and Sacai. For his return to London Fashion Week, MM6 Maison Margiela in February revealed a collaboration with The North Face based on his exclusive pieces named Expedition System, pieces designed for extreme weather conditions.
