Premier League player arrested over alleged child sex offences
“Police officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday, July 16, 2021, on suspicion of sex crimes against children,” read a statement from the Greater Manchester Police on Monday night. The unidentified player has been suspended by his club pending a police investigation.
A Premier League football player was arrested on suspicion of sex crimes against children.
The player, whose identity has not been revealed for legal reasons, is an international regular. He was arrested by Greater Manchester Police on Friday and released on police bail.
“Police officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday, July 16, 2021, on suspicion of sex crimes against children,” says a police statement.
“He is on police bail and awaits further investigation.”
The player’s club, also unnamed, said in a statement to the Mirror: “The club can confirm that it has suspended a starting player pending a police investigation.
“The club will continue to support the authorities in their investigations and will not make further statements at this time.”
