Ring’s latest security camera is a drone that flies inside your home

The company Ring is building the Ring Always Home Cam, a small drone that can monitor your home. In addition to offering an extra security option, you can use the device to check specific things in your home, for example, if you left a window open or some appliance turned on.

Always Home Cam integrates with the broader Ring ecosystem and will patrol whenever its sensors are activated in Away mode. You will not be able to manually control the ship, but you will be able to see the images it is capturing live using the Ring application. You will receive an alert if an unauthorized person enters your home.

The propellers are protected and Ring says its anti-collision technology is good enough to zoom in the tight spaces of your home. Also, the drone only flies on predetermined flight paths, reducing the risk of hitting it against a wall.

This year, Ring underwent huge scrutiny of its privacy practices, something it wanted to address when announcing Always Home Cam. As part of that, the drone is designed to hum loudly during the flight to let people know it’s filming and, when docking, the camera is obscured by the base station.

The gadget will cost $ 250 when it goes on sale in 2021.
